ABSOLUTELY GREAT STORYTELLING
The way this story is told brings you right into it. You can hear the war cries, the clanging of iron and smell of the salty sea. It was an honour to read and I look forward to another.

stars An Exciting Read
Having read Cornwell’s Saxon saga what I liked about Gibbons’ story was entering this familiar ground through the fresh blood of Gibbon’s characters. It was a kind of homecoming.
